What you get second-hand

  • The same A15 chip as the 13 Pro (one fewer GPU core), so everyday speed is excellent.
  • Better battery life than the iPhone 12, with most used units at 80–88% health.
  • No zoom lens and a 60Hz screen; that's what you give up versus the Pro models.

What moves the price

  • Battery health: each 5% below 90% takes Rs 1,500–2,500 off.
  • 256GB adds about Rs 4,000–6,000.
  • The iPhone 13 mini and 13 Pro are different phones; check the model in Settings → General → About.

Before you pay for a used iPhone

  1. 1Confirm it's the iPhone 13, not the 13 mini: Settings → General → About → Model Name.
  2. 2Dial *#06# and check the IMEI is registered in NTA's MDMS system (mdms.nta.gov.np). An unregistered phone can be blocked from Nepali networks.
  3. 3Settings → General → About → Parts and Service History should show only Genuine Apple Parts. 'Unknown Part' on the battery, display or camera means a cheap replacement.
  4. 4Settings → Battery → Battery Health. Under 80% means a battery change soon (Rs 6,000–12,000 for a good one); price that in.
  5. 5Make sure the seller signs out of iCloud and erases the phone in front of you, then set it up with your own Apple ID. Never buy a phone with Activation Lock on.
  6. 6Test Face ID, all cameras (including zoom), the speakers, the microphone (record a voice memo) and charging.
  7. 7If True Tone is missing from Control Center's brightness controls, the screen has been replaced.
  8. 8Meet in daylight at a busy place, check everything before handing over money, and ask for the box and bill if they exist.

On HaatBazar, reserve the item to hold it for 48 hours and chat with the seller, then meet and check everything before paying the rest.
